Hot Cam Crane 99846 springs (minus dampers, they would have cut through the locators) Guides cut down for more lift and seal. Heads, gasket matched 12367777 gasket, ported, 5 angle valve job (debateable I guess) Intake gasket matched also.
I don't think it's too bad for the first time I've tried port gasket matching and porting, I missed a few little places, but I think it's good enough.
I'll post more pictures as I go along, I just love posting pictures, and everyone loves pics on this forum, right?
Id like to publicly thank STL94LT1 for his suggestion in another thread about those springs. I labored over spring selection for at least a week, (ask 500hp, he helped a lot also) and after all that it came back to STL94LT1's suggested spring. It's just hard to beat. I originally was going to go with the 96802 spring as a stock LT4 replacement with more lift capeability but looking at the H-11 springs it didn't make sense to settle for a stock replacement.
I bought the 99846 springs hoping that the damper might somehow work. Well it won't fit around the seal or in the stock locator. So out came the dampers making it essentially the 99845 spring. I only lose 19 or so lbs of rate and none at seat pressure because I installed them at 1.775
So if you're looking for a real good stock replacement spring for your LT1/4 the 99845 will drop right in at stock height and allow higher lift (up to .615 @ 1.775.640 @ 1.800) cams without worry. They're cheap too at $140.00, set of 16.
They actually fit better in the retainers and locators than the stock spring do.

Those sound like they'll work nice. And from the pics and what you said you've done, you should feel a real nice increase, especially after tuning. Many of us are also very pleased with the CC 915 & 918 beehive springs. They fit nicely on the stock LTx spring cups and there are no problems with seal clearance, at least at the Hotcam's lift. I'd be interested to know how much lift folks have used them with in an LTx. I never researched that past what my needs were. Mine have served me well for nearly 20K miles now. I'll look forward to hearing about how you like, and the results of, your upgrades.

Hey thanks, that's what this forum is all about. I got a heads up on the H-11 springs from friend and forum member Jim "96GS#007" Mason. Jim has ran his GS many hard road course sessions with those springs, without a failure.

I knew I'd seen some pretty serious lift numbers with them but couldn't remember any specifics. Are you running around the ideal 1.8" installed height?

I too have benefitted from good info you've provided in the past.
I'll be happy and sad when this all done. I'm having so much fun putting all the super clean clean parts back on. When I run out of new stuff the fun is all over. Buuuut...then another kind of fun can begin, the rush of new found power!
Yeah, dyno tuning is in the works. Me and buddy are trying to get several cars lined up for a dyno day at local shop. That's why I didn't have a mail order tune done.
I'm wondering if this will run good enough to drive it a while before that can happen though. Anyone know? Alvin?? Anybody??

It should. I drove my LT1 for several thousand miles with the Hotcam and no tuning. Then I installed fully ported heads w/ oversized valves, ported intake, headers and etc. and then had it dynotuned. Obviously by then it was much needed and I picked up nearly 40 HP, achieved great driveabilty and got my stock highway mileage back and close to it in town. Since Alvin's in Charlotte now (about an hour from me) I'm going to talk to him about tweaking it, now that I've installed a 388 bottom end. I've always been very impressed with his posts.

I'm not sure and can't comment on the design specifics. But it's definitely a different breed compared to conventional springs. It's not for all applications but they do offer amazing versatility for some set-ups. I think they're a great street and even race spring for reasonable RPM applications.

I installed them at 1.820.
Also, my valve stems are .050 longer than stock, maybe that's why I can run a stock length pushrod.

Alvin and PCMFORLESS = GOD. With the mail order tune he made me, I picked up over a second in the quater mile as well as a solid 10mph. The car idled great and drove even better. He will no doubt be the person who tunes my 396. I'm hoping to still get some more power out of the 350 after I install the long tubes and BB Tri Flow.

I drove mine for two years on the stock tune. Had a wide band dyno session with John Sealock and he didn't change the fuel or timing. I only needed a tune when I went to a 52mm TB, and that was for drivability issues near idle.
It makes a difference on what year your car is. Mine is a 94 with the PCM and MAF. That's different from 92-93 in critical ways.
Not bad for a days work, installed heads and all that goes with that. Intake on, WP on, acessories bracket, most of the wiring is done, started routing the plug wires and that's where I quit.
