I'm new to the forums but have been a Vette owner for almost 5 years now. I bought a 84' Vette and have been slowly restoring it. I have run into a problem where I have no brake lights when I hit the brake pedal, yet my taillights and turn signal flashers all work fine. I have checked all the fuses and even replaced them to be on the safe side. Has anyone run into this before or have any tips for me to solve this. It's not a daily driver yet but I hope to get her that way soon. Thanks!
You want to first check the adjustment on the switch at the brake pedal. remove the hush panel and get upside down. then push down on the pedal and jam the switch all the way toward it. Then pull up on the pedal to seat the switch in its proper position.
If that doesn't do it, you may have an open in the wiring to the turn signal switch. Current for the brakelights is routed through that switch so it can cancel the lights during signal operation. I had this happen to me. On my car it was easier to solve because the high brake light still worked. (It is not routed through the turn signal switch.) It was also strange because the brake lights worked when I tested them in the garage, but not on the road. The circuit was only broken when the steering wheel was lowered for driving. Hope this helps.

My 94 had the exact same problem. Found a broke wire at the connector on the end of the turn signal harness. The location of the harness connector on your car is probably the same ... near the bottom end of the steering column. You'll have to remove the panel(s) under the dash to get to it. For my year (94) the orange wire coming to the connector is hot and when the pedal is pushed the white wire on the turn signal harness connector will be hot. Hope this helps.
Thanks, I'll try all those things. I'm not sure if it helps or not but sporadically I will hear a "click" coming from under the dash, near the brake, when I depress the pedal. It doesn't happen all the time and I forgot to mention it in my original post. Does that change anyone's opinion on what may be happening?

It's probably just the brake switch. The plunger moves about a half inch when the pedal is pressed and it may be the spring is clicking. Could be the switch is bad. Take it out and test it with an ohm meter.
