Default My First Corvette

Greetings!!!!!
My name is Steve and I'm proud to announce that I am a Corvette owner. I found a '94 LT1, one owner, 6 spd. roadster. Had 57,500 miles at the time of purchase.
I live in Eastern Wash. and I found this car online in the Bay area. Flying down to pick it up and the drive home was an adventure in itself.
Had the top down the whole trip home.
The car is in excellant shape and would be fine leaving it just the way it is but............300hp is fine, yet we live in America and more is better.
What my thoughts are is to gain 25-50 hp. but do it in a purely "unplug and plug in" manner. I wanted to open this question up to the forum to get input. My thoughts are to change the intake and exhaust to let it breath more efficiently, to change plugs and wires and see what happens.
With the exhaust, what are the pros and cons of just removing the cat. converters and going to a K&N filter? Secondly, what recomendations for plugs and wires?
Looking forward to your input,
Steve in Spokane

Congratulations Steve, and enjoy! I'm new to owning a Vette too, and to the forums, and just wanted to wish you the best with your new lady. Hope you find everything you want to here and good luck with the Corvette!

Congrats and welcome aboard Steve
If exhaust is "unplug and plug in'', than that would be a good place to start.

Contratz and welcome to the forum! See my signature below for mods. Happy to help if I can. Exhaust will help some. Most people that are concerned with too much sound and resonance go with the Corsa system. I went a custom route which was cheaper anyway. I cut the mufflers and put pipes in their place and had the tips welded back on. Also cut the middle resonator out and put an x-pipe in it's place. Most people say that it is too much resonance or too loud for them. I like the sound and it's definately not too loud or too much resonance for me. It depends on individual prefereance. It's in the shop today the cats are going away now and headders are being put in. I have a thread going with pictures. If you do delete the cats don't gut them and make sure you don't have inspections in your area. I have heard removing the insides causes more turbulance. Put pipe in it's place. I would cut the air lid and start searching for a good deal on a K&N. I bought mine new off ebay for $30. Ask others about the plugs. I choose mine due to the nitrous kit. I'm very happy with my MSD 8.5mm wires which seem to be very well made. You can also use the search function and you will find plenty of threads on all kinds of mods. Again welcome!

If you have an extra $3000 or so.. you can have a head & cam package. This should put you in the 425bhp range or 350-370rwhp and you will absolute feel the extra hp inceased.

Hi, Steve in Spokane -

Welcome to the Forum. You'll find it a great place to get the straight scoop on your Vette.

As a beginning point, you might want to review Nathon Plemmon's LT1 Performance web site ...

http://www.wku.edu/~nathan.plemons/h...rformance.html

One of the keys in improving performance is to make sure that your dollars go toward real upgrades. There's lots of snake oil out there!

Good Luck, and enjoy the Vette!

Congratulations!! I did something similar to you. My son & I flew down to Modesto to buy the car in March of 05 and drove it back to Seattle.

Understand one basic rule: Corvettes are already in a fairly high state of tune. Thus there are no inexpensive HP gains.
