I have a 94 vette and my highbeam indicator often does not luminate on the instrument panel. Does the steering wheel position or dimmer switch has a bearing on this issue.
The CCM controls the the highbeam indicator lamp. The highbeam lamp has 12 volts on it and the CCM completes the circuit to ground when commended. The command comes from the headlight highbeam dimmer switch lever which is input to CCM.
Possibility:
1) the bulb is bad or has a bad connection in instrument cluster.
2) Wiring to the CCM or instrument cluster, as in a connector
3) defective CCM (probably not)
4) Highbeam lever defective
The diagnostics for the CCM (short 4 and 12 on ALDL) can envoke a test mode and cycle (turn on and off) the highbeam lamp. Go to modual 1.4 test 05. This will help isolate the problem area as wheather the CCM is controlling the lamp correctly.
