It sounds as though I am fortunate that my Canton pan, purchased used, is not leaking at the welds. Also I installed it with the engine out which makes it much easier to get it sealed properly to the front cover.

I'm with ya Kid, but it appears we may be in the minority.

Have any of you called Canton and discussed this with them?

P.S.. I have pulled the pan 3 times, I always put a drop of The Right Stuff in the corners and then bolt on the pan. I also don't over torque (STOP if the gasket is squishing out), use a Fel Pro blue 1-piece gasket and go back and check the torque after everyone is done. They often loosen up some.
Good luck guys, that sucks.

Well good news ! Woke up and saw the puddle under the car which was worse than before and they said to bring it in again. When we put it up and saw that it was now dry all the way around the pan, the front and the 2 sides but not the rear. it seems the pan does not have the height at the rear main. it wasn't even enough to push out the silicone ('the right stuff'). We left the pan in place removed the starter and flywheel cover and then caked on the right stuff around the rear main.

We let it idle for 15 minutes and gave her a couple of revvs. and it didn't drip on the hoist. We let the silicone dry for over 3 hours and it was odd that it didn't dry as fast as expected. yesterday when we dropped the pan we only let it dry for 20 mins or so till we had everything back together. For now I drove home slow trying not to rev and am going to let it sit overnight to dry and will check in the morning.

On the bright side...

1. the underdrive dampener rocks ! The car revvs unbelieveably fast now and sounds even better at 7900.

2. the speedometer out of the blue started to work. hoping it stays that way.

3. Found a screw loose in the manifold causing a vaccum leak. now the car idles rock solid like a stocker

4. Found out that the pcv was sucking over 3.5 litres of oil in just over a week and what was the cause of smoke I had under decceleration. No more pcv and now have a valve cover breather. No more smoke !

Im a happy guy if there's no leaks tommorow!!!
