Ok, I'm undetermined as to spend my 600 dollar final paycheck on a LCD television for my apartment at college, or on some parts for the Corvette. What I have done to it now is:
-350 bored .040 over
-1.6 roller rockers
-Hooker long tube headers
-No pre-cats
-high flow main cat
-Flowmaster 40 series mufflers
-Custom burned chip (from one of the members of the forum)
-Holley AFPR
-cut air lid
-K&N filter
-air foil (it was free!)
-ported plenum
-siamesed (1" deep, 1/2" high) base
-TB bypass
-frisbee removed
-180 degree t-stat
Now, what could I get for 600? I was looking for something that'll increase performance noticably. Though I don't expect something that'll get me 80hp, I don't want to waste it on something that'll get me 5hp. So what do you guys recommend?
It's probably not what you want to hear, but your car is pretty complete. Looks like a good combo.
I would have said a shift kit or TQ converter, but looks like you have the 6 speed.
You probably have 3:33 gears or there-abouts. Maybe more rear gear? But it would put you out of the TPI power band quicker.
I see you have done work on your base and plennum but I don't see that anything is done to your runners.
You may want to try a set of larger runners.
Other than that you need more money.
I would say cam but I have always thought of a cam as your last step or with your last stap so that it matches everything else you have done.

he wanted SOTP gains. large tube runners might net him 10chp. those runners are about $350-$400. he will be disappointed.
save your $$ and wait until you can afford a complete SR intake, 219 cam, and aftermarket heads.....then sell your stock stuff to recoup about $500 of the total outlay. head-pounding excitement doesn't come cheap.

That was the only thing I could come up with that was in his price range.
I figured he ported his Plenum and his base, the runners would be holding him back at this point. Some people on this forum have ended up with some pretty impressive numbers with larger runners and some porting.
Don't get me wrong I agree with you. Heads cam and a SR would be ideal but way out of his price range.
I think you should save the money for the future combination you want to get to, you will probably not get a big improvement in feel from going to a larger base manifold like Accel or TPiS and the larger runners like Accel or AS&M.
The base will be a necessity however if you ever plan to go with a Superram. You may want to read my website.
Besides, college football is about to start and the TV is a necessity too.
GET SOME C5 FRONT BRAKES BUY ADAPTERS JUNK YARD THE CALIPERS YOU COULD POSSIBLE GET IT DONE FOR 600 THE WORK WAY BETTER THAN STOCK C4 BRAKES............
N2O doesn't appeal to me. I want something that's always there, that I don't have to arm and purge and all that. I dunno how else to explain it. Just something that will give me HP all the time.
I actually have 4.10 gears. Overdone...I know. But hell, its fun out of the hole, I don't really care if I loose .2 or .3 tenths in the 1/4. I mainly drive it on the street, I'd rather have fun and feel it more than get the the extra tenths at a dragstrip I might go to a few times a year.
I'll probably get the TV, and save some money for the beer.
Maybe get a job at school to start saving for a compete intake and perhaps....a cam.

Did anyone mention a cam yet? A mild 211 cam or a bigger but still mild is the 219. Just make sure your springs can handle the extra lift with your 1.6rr's. That would cost much less than 600 bucks and still leave you some left over. Might want to retune it with the left overs.
