I know I've read it on here some time ago but can't remember...what is the purpose of installing an X pipe?...I have a fairly free flowing exhaust but I do a lot of 1/8 mile drag racing and would like a bit more torque...I currently run long tubes with no pre-cats or cats back to stock mufflers...
the x-pipe helps with exhaust scavaging. this is done by the left bank pulse setting up a bit of vacuum to draw the right side gasses out. This reverses, of course.
Due to the scavaging you could see more torque at higher rpms. We're only talking about 5-10hp/tp total but it helps keep exhaust flowing at higher RPMs better and will make more power.
Your stock mufflers will help keep exhaust going because it does have some back pressure at the end of the system. Your headers,no cats,x-pipe with stock mufflers is a pretty damn good system to make Hp/tq. You could go with B&B,Corsa,Borla, etc. but only gain 10 and gain noise you might not want. The X-pipe is a nice cheap mod compaired to mufflers. Cost $100 for a shop to make a real nice 3" x-pipe and weld it up and in for me.
Thanks guys...I am looking for a bit more torque especially with my 3200 stall converter...the more torque the better for 1/8 mile racin'....btw, I don't presently have resonance so it's the other I'm after...
