I ordered a CS-144 from a online salvage yard because mine went south. Later on I was told I have a CS-130 (93 vette last 8 in VIN: P5108430). My question is will I have any issues installing this alt? Also what year Vettes came with the CS-144 and what all is required to make it work with my car?

Theres no problem upgrading, however to make it fit, someone here knows.I forget how but something to do with a little grinding somewhere.Other than that, shouldnt be any issues and youll have a much better, stronger alternator.
TTT for ya.

You may need a heavier cable. I looked into this on my 1989 and they recommended I believe a 4AWG cable. Their are some recent threads that you might search.

You won't need to go to a heavier gauge cable if all you're doing is switching to a CS-144. The stock CS-130 on pre-LT1/4/5 cars produced a modest 105amps while a CS-144 from '90-'95 ZR-1s produced 124amps; a CS-144 from a '96 LT1/4 car produced 140amps. All these alternators used an 8AWG gauge wire without an issue, so there's no need to upgrade.
What you will need to do is grind down the small ear that bolts into the upper alternator bracket. You'll only have to take off about 4mm (I think... there's a tech tip on this site that will tell you exactly). Just remember that you will have to grind the rear face of the ear so that you don't affect the alignment of the pulley.
Additionally, you will have to fabricate a new (or modify the existing) rear brace for the alternator.
Good luck with it
