Default MSD Distributor Connector

I've spent Saturday installing my new MSD Pro- Billet distributor for my 92 LT1. Everything went perfectly right up until I tried to plug the darn thing in. The electrical connector at the manifold is totally different from the connector on the MSD. RetroTA pointed me to this thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ghlight=timing and I thought my problems were solved but it turns out my color coding and pin labeling is different. So does pin A go to pin 1 on the MSD harness I haven't a clue. Also there is an extra wire on my connector that I haven't been able to trace yet It disappears somewhere between the manifold connector and the old opti connector. I don''t want to be wrong and burn up my ignition system. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Default MSD Install pictures

I'm going to call MSD in the morning to see if I can get this resolved. Well any way here's what I've done so far. My woes started with a badly leaking water pump.

This is my opti with the water pump removed.

Opti cap removed.

The opti and harmonic balancer removed.

The MSD installed with the cap off.

Default Got it done!

I called MSD and they gave me directions of where each wire went. It is basically Pin A to Pin 1, Pin B to Pin 2 and so forth. The fifth wire is a shielded wire and it's function I'm not sure of so I spliced it together. They told me it was not needed. I didn't want to take a chance. I had to buy a connector, it was a replacement connector for a 93. I bought it at Rock Auto. I don't know if I'm supposed to mention that because they are not a supporting member) and spliced it in accordingly. I got it done on Saturday and it fired right I up. I did not have to adjust the timing or anything it runs perfect in fact a little stronger than before. Maybe I got lucky or something as so many others are having problems. I am by no means an expert, far from it but it may be that the o'ring may be causing the problems.

I could not for the life of me get that o'ring to stay in place with any confidence. So I don't know how right this is or if it will cause me problems later but I used super glue in a number of spots around the sealing area just to hold it in place long enough to get the cap on. It is a bad design. They should have used a machined groove and used a proper sized o'ring to seal the cap instead of having to stretch the o'ring around a shoulder and hope it stays in place. Not smart. Well I hope this helps someone and not lead anyone astray. Like I said I'm no expert.
