I have a 1996 Corvette with the Bose Gold Stereo System. Last night I was driving the car and the radio began to cut in and out. I noticed that the radio would cut in and out more often when I raised the volume. This morning I went to drive the car and the radio is turning on, but there is no sound coming from the speakers. The CD player is functioning (the LCD counter is moving), but the antenna will not go up and down anymore. I replaced the power antenna one year ago, so I'm hoping that it's not the problem. Is this a sign that the radio is bad. It's s Bose Gold System, so I know that not just any head unit will work if I replace it. Has any one had this problem and can give me some advice.

Could be a switching transistor gone bad in the head unit. I've seen it alot. However, I would check the relay, and wiring harness first. If the relay coil were to short, or a wire falls of the hot side of the relay coil then grounds, that would also do it. That antenna power wire, also turns on the bose amp relay. So if there is No sound, the above may be the case... Good Luck...
yea, the receiver moves around, for 1996, I think it's in the storage bin with the ABS... either way, it's there or in the dash, behind and below the glove box.
