I was trying to figure out what are the widest wheels I can fit on my 84 c4. The car right now has z-51 repo's on it, but from the edge of the tire and the outer lip of the wheel well's, there are a few good inches there. I saw a newer zr-1 I believe, just the other day out on the road with wheels and tires that filled up the entire back of the car and nicely out to the wheel well lips. Also I was wondering do any scca, or road racers use slicks, and what wheel and tire size combo's they might use. In short what's the most tire you can fit under a 84 c4 for the street and track wise what kind of setup's do people use ? Any wheel suggestions ? thanks for your time J.H.
It's common to see 275/40's up front and 315/35's in the rear on ZR1 rims. Thats if you have correct size rims (17x9.5 in the front and 17x11 in the rear). I'm not sure, but you may be able to squeeze 325's or 335's on the back. I have also seen people mount 285/40's on their front rims. Hope this helps.
How much do you rub in the front or back ? I said earlier that i had z-51's and was mistaken, I have just the 5 spoke silver zr1's. I currently have 11 inch rims on all 4 corners and 275 - 40's on all four wheels. Next time I need tires Could I just jump up to 335 - 40 -17's ? Would I have any major rubbing problems ? Thanks J.H.
so i've looked around and the only tires i could find this size were 335/35/17's . Would I be able to put these on my 84? as a side note Hoosier makes a nice set of roadracing slicks this size DOT ready right through Tire Rack for about 290.00 a tire.
I have run 12x25.5x 18 on my 84 roadrace car with 1 inch spacer on the front and 5.8 spacers on the rear. The car was also lowered with Coil-overs. No rub at all
