Asr

I've heard this argument a million times,"My ASR kicked in and almost got me killed!!!"
I say if you were driving it hard enough for ASR to kick in, then you probably shouldn't have been doing the manuever you were doing.
Patience can be a good thing. Wait for that green light instead of turning on red, don't pull into the middle of an intersection where you can't see the traffic light, things like that.
Also note that ASR for 1995 was refined and isn't as sensitive as the early years and you also get the instant on/instant off that '94 and earlier didn't have.
We all believe we know how to drive our cars, but even I have been caught by surprise a few times and ASR has saved me, and there have been times that having it off would have been the better choice. It all comes down to common sense, know where you are driving and adjust your driving to the conditions at hand, and ASR on or off won't make a difference.
Luckily for us, when the engine shuts off, ASR defaults back to on when you restart. God forbid you had an accident and they discovered ASR was off, the lawyers would love that one.

with that 100%, but unfortuntely on northeast highways, there aren't too many opportunities to drive the cars the way they can be driven.Remember Jersey traffic and some PA traffic can be hazardous to your health. You never know what's going to happen.
Even the best drivers can still have accidents.
I agree with one exception, if I don't want to have fun that day.... Like that ever happens. That' why I drive a vette and not a Kia
To me, it would seem sort of irresponsible to disable an effective safety device especially on a daily driver. I would have a difficult time explaining to my family how I wrecked it because I had the asr off.
Tires are too damned expensive, too

I can recall at least 10 time that my asr/abs have assisted in preventing an accident...
When I do turn it off, I am purposely looking to drive like a lunitic. The button turns the asr off and turns my mental focus way on...
Jeff

I believe it's the traction control setting.
I turn ASR off except when raining.

I'm pretty sure later versions with other brands of cars are much better. I know BMWs are.

Robert Oh, and I always turn mine off...it's way too sensitive for me.
