Maybe you shouldn't be turning into heavy traffic.

I've heard this argument a million times,"My ASR kicked in and almost got me killed!!!"

I say if you were driving it hard enough for ASR to kick in, then you probably shouldn't have been doing the manuever you were doing.

Patience can be a good thing. Wait for that green light instead of turning on red, don't pull into the middle of an intersection where you can't see the traffic light, things like that.

Also note that ASR for 1995 was refined and isn't as sensitive as the early years and you also get the instant on/instant off that '94 and earlier didn't have.

We all believe we know how to drive our cars, but even I have been caught by surprise a few times and ASR has saved me, and there have been times that having it off would have been the better choice. It all comes down to common sense, know where you are driving and adjust your driving to the conditions at hand, and ASR on or off won't make a difference.
Luckily for us, when the engine shuts off, ASR defaults back to on when you restart. God forbid you had an accident and they discovered ASR was off, the lawyers would love that one.

with that 100%, but unfortuntely on northeast highways, there aren't too many opportunities to drive the cars the way they can be driven.

Remember Jersey traffic and some PA traffic can be hazardous to your health. You never know what's going to happen.
Even the best drivers can still have accidents.

I agree with one exception, if I don't want to have fun that day.... Like that ever happens. That' why I drive a vette and not a Kia

I leave it on...

To me, it would seem sort of irresponsible to disable an effective safety device especially on a daily driver. I would have a difficult time explaining to my family how I wrecked it because I had the asr off.

Tires are too damned expensive, too

I can recall at least 10 time that my asr/abs have assisted in preventing an accident...

When I do turn it off, I am purposely looking to drive like a lunitic. The button turns the asr off and turns my mental focus way on...

Does anyone sell a slp traction control module or something like it for 92-97 Vettes?

It can be turned off in the computer.

I believe it's the traction control setting.

I turn ASR off except when raining.

For some reason, I didn't think that switch would disable the ASR. But, I just disabled it on my bin file and will update the next time I reflash.

Well there's ASR then there's ASR. This is an early version of it and not very effective. I leave it on on the street but at the track (road race) its aweful. It bucks just going over rumble strips. It actually acted up so bad once it spun me. I disable it always now.
I'm pretty sure later versions with other brands of cars are much better. I know BMWs are.

I'm not 100% sure that disables it. I just remembered seeing it in the settings.

I turn it off. I don't need it, maybe if I were driving the car in the rain on a unfamiliar winding road at night I would use it. I don't drive it in the rain so to hell with the ASR. It should be off when you start the car and only be on if you turn it on.

A while back, someone posted a way to hook up a time delay relay that would turn it off when you start the car and then if you want it on you can hit the button and it's on. You might find it in a search. Robert Oh, and I always turn mine off...it's way too sensitive for me.

Off when it's dry, if I remember to turn it off.

Always on when it's damp out.

If this weren't such excellent advice, I'd try to pick a fault with it. I can't, and won't. And that's why I'm quoting it in this post so we can read it again.
