Default Throttle Body #'s

I have an irratic idle on cold starts on my 86 vert. by reading a lot of threads I think my problem is a loose shaft in t-body, also have sticky gas pedal on light acceleration. My question being I have a chance to get a nice 52mm t-body but it's off a 89, will it fit or can I tell by #'s.

Thanks, Rich

I believe it has the same linkage, but i could be wrong again.
You can always get a rebuilt one (bored to 52 mm with with sealed bearings on shaft ends) from David Koldos or from ebay ( can't remember sellers name )

I went ahead and bought the 52mm t-body off an 89 on e-bay, but still wondering if it will work on my 86...no mods, if anybody can help let me know or I guess I'll find out when I try to bolt it on?

Have you tried just cleaning yours with some carb cleaner and an old toothbrush? Have someone hold the throttle open and you scrub all the gunk built up around the bores, then wipe it clean with a rag. It may cure your issues

I did a pretty thorough cleaning on it (as best you can do short of taking it off) I reset tps to .57, but I can defintely feel play in the the throttle shaft and my accelerator was sticking when first trying to take off, i was able to cure that by adding a spring to hold the shaft in place but I know that's mickey mouse that's why I'm on a quest for a new t-body guess I'll just have to spend the $325. on e-bay. thank you all for the thoughts and help. I just found this forum and know it's going to save me $$$ and heartache. Rich
