Anyone else experience a delay, sometimes, with the cruise control kicking in? Sometimes the CC works normal: you get to the speed you want, press the Set (or even the R/A) button, and within about 1 second, it takes over and you're cruisin'!
Other times, after pressing the Set or R/A button, it will decelerate for a few seconds, sometimes as much as 5 MPH, before catching on, then shifting down and accelerating hard to get back to the set speed.
Any idea what might cause this kind of behavior? Something "sticking"? Is there anything I should do to "maintain" the CC system? Any obvious first things to check?
I had a problem with mine that I think was similar. What makes me think it may be different is yours is intermittent. You might check to see if the cable is binding or loose. That's all it took for mine to work right. Good luck!

I had a similar problem with my '94 6sp. I also had a problem with the a/c blowing through the defroster instead of the vents. I replaced a valve in the vacuum line under the hood that fixed both. Pull off the cover and expose the fuel rail on the passenger side. You should find a "T" valve splitting one line into two. Listen for a leak or better yet, place your finger around the back side of it. You'll know if it's leaking. Mine had a big hole in it. You may have to take it off and look at it. It could only be a small hole...right now. The part number is: 14056648, and costs $6. The Chevy dealer should have it. Take the part with you when you go. Hope this helps!
My check valve went bad and only affected the A/C vents and not my cruse.
But I do have a problem similar to yours. Sometimes there is a delay and sometimes it won’t engage at all. I have attributed this to heat. When the car sits in the hot sun for hours (work) it happens. Never when warm or cool. I have (at this point) eliminated the servo under the hood. It gets hotter after driving and not as hot when sitting in the sun.
Currently I have been attending to bigger problems and have it lower on the list, but feel that is probably related to the cruse module getting heat soaked. After 15 minutes of driving and the car cools, it returns to normal. Guess I will get into it when it’s it turn.
