RUB---RUB---RUB

Hi, I have a '96 Collector Edition and am having this problem. While driving slowly, I can hear a rubbing sound coming from the rt. rear wheel area. It slows down when the car slows down. It is a low pitched sound as if the tire is rubbing as it goes around. I haven't changed tires and the car handles and drives fine. Any suggestion as to what this might be?

A dragging caliper maybe?

I'd jack the rear up and spin the right rear by hand. With the engine off you might be able to isolate the rub by either sound or feel.

axle shaft u-joints perhaps too. Thats what mine sounded like for a bit until it changed to a screech-screech-screech.

u joints, thats exact sound mine made.
i replaced the bearing first, the noise persisted.

I agree u-joints. Mine is making a similar noise, and I am planning on replacing the u-joints as soon as I can. The noise you described is a classic indicator.
