1988 VATS Fuse
For some background info, I spent all last week correcting my no crank/no start condition, I got my car to start yesterday. She sounded great and oil pressure, oil temp, coolant temp, cooling fans . . . everything performed correctly and within in normal ranges. After many, many trials this is how I got crank/start: I repaired a wiring issue at the iginition switch ("sol" pole yellow wire was not sending 12v to my starter relay). I then found my clutch Neutral Safety Switch not working. I bypassed the neutral switch with a jumper on the connection. At this point, I got my first cranking of the starter but it still would not start. In the process of troubleshooting again, I accidentally forgot to put my VATS fuse back in. When I tried to start it, she fired right up without the VATS fuse installed. If I install the fuse, she cranks but will not run. All the harness in the main dash area appears to be untouched and virgin except where I fixed the "sol" pole clip.
Looking for any explanation on the VATS fuse uninstalled situation to start car? My VATS fuse at the panel does receive 12v and it correctly sends power to the coil with ignition keying. I know that the other side of the fuse is a pink/black direct wire to my "theft deterant decoder cavity "S". What function at the decoder does 12v cavity "S" perform? And, what function at the ECM purple wire "B6" to theft decoder cavity "P" perform? Theft decoder as I understand it:
Cav "L" -- black ground
Cav "M" -- not used
Cav "N" -- not used
Cav "P" -- purple to ECM "B6"
Cav "R" -- not used
Cav "S" -- pink/black from VATS fuse
Cav "T" -- yellow from resistor ign key
Cav "U" -- brown from resistor ign key
Cav "V" -- dark green to starter relay (center panel area)
