Wheel Stud Removal..Please help!
Recently, I purchased some new tires. While I was at the shop they cross threaded one of my wheel studs and they replaced it. I went to remove the tires to replace the brake pads and found I could not turn the lug nuts. I kept trying until eventually I snapped the stud off!!!!!! Not just one but three of the five studs on one wheel. Does anyone know how to replace wheel studs?

first of all sounds like those idiots used an impact on your wheels you should have bitch slapped them for that sh*@, second always have your rims hand tightened and torqued to specs cause you drive a vette and most likely have crispy rims that should be treated with respect just like the paint on your car. the studs you will need a mallet and whack them out then just use a washer and nut to pull the new ones in
it just pisses me off when I think some idiot doesnt know to not overtighten rims especially for another vettester.......
and dont go back to the same place cause you already note the damage they created nothing else needed be said!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The other comments are right on target. The morons who installed the wheels with an impact are at fault. Corvette wheels put on with a torgue wrench come right off, and when torgued properly don't warp rotors and break or crack the chrome on wheels. Tell the shop to use the tool they use on their own cars when they change their tires and wheels, I'm sure they will know what a torgue wrench looks like you just need to encourage them.
This could give a whole new meaning to Road Rage!!! :smash: :smash:

replacing REAR wheels studs is a B-ITCH....fronts are easy, take caliper off and slide off rotor and bang them in and out. Is it the front or the rear?

them to spec. I stood right next to them regardless of their
policy.It's my car ,my $$$,and I am the customer. My way only!!
Usually most places will let you stay with the car if you just stay
back a little. Bottom line--call them and tell your story and see
how they offer to FIX the situation.Hopefully kind words will follow!!

I would not hammer out studs on a Corvette. First of all because it's sloppy workmanship and second because the manual says to press them out.
The hub on the front wheels can be unbolted and taken to a bench vise and then press them out.
The rear studs are removed by tool J6637. It's a special C clamp. that's all.
