there are a ton of parts that have to come off... take your time and be patient. also, be careful... make sure the spring is disconnected before trying to take the tension off.
If you don't have the Helm Factory Service Manual, the Haynes manual should be ok for this procedure. It didn't change much over the years... just more or less parts, depending, and I am sure they cover the differences... the key? PICTURES!!!!
You've got to get the car way up in the air too. Regular jackstands probably won't do, unless you cut the spring. The stock springs arch way down.
Its nothing technically difficult, but Aarons87 is right, the car needs to be pretty high up in the air. I think I had to put my jackstands on a set of ramps I had in order to get it up high enough. Other than that its not really hard, If i remember right you need to disconnect the sway bar at the a-arm, remove the shocks, brake calipers and rotors, and the lower spindle to a-arm mount. Once you've done that there should be very little tension on the spring and you should be able to take off one of the lower a-arms. There is a pair of spring retainers under the center of the crossmember that need removal, and then you should be able to pull the spring out of the side you removed the a-arm from.
That's why I'm still trying to work a deal for the tool the dealerships use. It is a Kent-Moore item, but they are like $800 if you buy directly from them, and aren't a dealership, and I still can't figure out why. All they are is what looks like a couple of shackles, with a jack bolt between them.
My buddy that is the parts manager at a local dealership is trying to get me a price, he said under $300, if so, I'm buying one.

All ya have to do is get the car up high enough to pull the spring out. But if you must spend that kind of money. May I suggest that you build a nice shipping box and rent it out to CF members?
That is the nice part about this spring tool, you can leave it on the spring, then release it when you get the spring unbolted, and out of the car. This way you don't have to have the car 4 feet off the ground.
Maybe on someone elses car, but not mine, that is an accident looking for a place to happen!!
Actualy if you saw it done you would see how stable it is.I have done racks and springs like this !You probably dont need the two up front ,but that Dan is a Sammy safety!!!
