Default hey guys,help me out.

ok today i posted "car boiled over" and i found out my water pump went into early retirment. So i started removing all the stuff in front of it,but the compressor(ac) has a bolt in it, i think its called a brissel( the type of bolt thats on the runners on the throttle body and its completely striped and

cant get it out so i dont know what to do especially since the compressors
pully is above it so 1) how do you remove a stripped screw (tried vicegrip already) and 2)how do you get the pully out of the way.
Also is the throttle body bypass worth doing now that i got everything out of the way.
thanks alot for your help in advance,

Your buddy Emmanuel

Not sure what you mean. Can you see the threaded end of the bolt? If so use something to push against that end while you ratchet it out. Maybe other will know. You will have to have something to press/pry againt the bolt to back it out.

Take a hammer and a punch and tap the stripped part of the torx fitting. Sometimes that is enough to straighten it out enough to use a new torx bit and remove it.

Mate you gotta be more patient!!! (sometimes 39 minutes isnt enough!!) Also remember that you didnt give alot of info about your car, so people can only guess what it is if they dont know where to look.

The throttle body coolant by-pass should be done now if youre ever going to do it.

I know exactly the bolt you are talking about. It's a long torx head hidden below the AC pulley that threads into the passanger cylinder head throught the AC braket. Mine was partially stripped and I had a heck of a time getting it out because the torx bit would slip off and not grab. I managed to finally get it to grip and break it loose. You are supposed to remove it with the AC pulley in place, as the bolt head has a notch to clear the pulley once you break it loose for you to pull it out. I left this bolt out upon reassembly for this very reason. You don't need it when all the other braketry bolts are in place.

I thought mine was stripped the first time I tried to remove it. Turns out my torx bit wasn't long enough, and wasn't seating correctly (was being pushed slightly even with the notch correctly aligned). It took some doing, but I finally got it out. I think it was a T-36 or the next size up....I can't remember.

Worse case= you will have to drill the head off, remove bracket and use vise grips to pull the bolt out. Then you will need to hunt for a new bolt from a vette wrecker. I don't think GM sells them anymore. Or just leave it out like 86PACER
