Sorry for the poor pic, it's dark out
The blue and white wire are part of the bundle going through the grommet.

It's not that far over. It's on the battery side of the brake booster. It's just inbetween the battery and bulge in the firewall that the brake booster bolts into. On the 90 it's just under the ECM but I think the 88's ECM is inside under the dash.

Look at the pic and use the hood latch hole as a land mark point of reference. The 88 may just be different.

It's right where Agent86's pic shows except for on mine (it's an automatic) there's no clutch master but it's in that exact proximity.

unfortunatly, i don't have a program to lighten up these picts so, i drew a few lines on them for reference.

is showing where i drilled my holes right above my harness connector.
there are 2 rubber grommets where it is circled in yellow and 2 lines (in yellow)...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

is a side shot from the battery tray (drivers side) showing the area drilled and the 2 holes.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

is a shot where i have outlined the area behind the brake booster as well as the harness connector. **there was no rubber grommet to be found at either side of the brake booster on my 88.

Where you drilled is almost exactly where it was. I guess that solves the question as the weather it was stock or not. That or its just in later models. Well, looks like you got it figured out. Thats good!
