As you're sitting in the drivers seat. I went through such that it came out just below and to the left of the wiring harness on the fire wall(dont get the wiring harness confused with the 2 identical MAF relays)

The height was also about equal to the base of my battery

I drilled a hole....I went through nothing but plastic. If you can wait until tonight, I'll snap a piture off from both sides of the fire-wall showing where the wire goes through.

I would also appreciate these pics, I need to do this since I have no more room to cram wires through anymore and need a place to re-run my nitrous line.

I've got a tach line to run. I assume I can do this to an 84 in the same place.

Remove the battery and there is a plug with wires in it. This is where I put my tach wire thru.

Thank-you......that is a much better idea.......do we all agree on that so that I don't have to remove the panel under my dash to take some pics.

Thats roughly where i went through. Drilled hole and installed rubber grommet. I had a bunch of wires to run ,so it was my only option.

What about piercing the grommet for the hood release cables...up high, out of the way, no drilling required...?

I ran out of space in the grommet where the battery cables go through
I still need a new place to drill a hole somewhere.

I had alot of wires to get through on my 90 with my nitrous set up. I have a WOT switch, purge button wires, window switch, bottle heater and a couple of relays and my manual fan switch and all wires had to pass through the firewall.

On my 90 there was a rubber plug here (location in pics) and I just removed it and went through. It's near the hood cable entry on the inside.

I dont know if it was installed by a previous owner of if all 1990's have it or if the 88 would have it. It was flush and pretty stealth to find. I found it when I was searching for a suitable route and was about to drill.

Look real close in this area and see if you have it.

I drilled below the steering column. I used a 3/4"hole saw, needed the size for usb, tach, and connecter for 02 afr etc.

Scroll down halfway and there you will see detailed pictures of how to do just that. There's a good area near the battery.
