Ok Guys ! I need an answer and quick ! I have been mobilized and start my venture to Iraq in 24 days ! ...........Ok ,I installed a brand new Accel billet distributor , in my 87 vette . I take the car for a test drive , it pops, spits ,sputters . I put the stock distributor back in , it runs fine ! The only thing that I see thats different, is that the pickup coil wires are reversed . When I first installed it the 4 wire connector would not plug into the stock harness , I changed the connector . What can it be ? .....................Thanks !
guessing that you used the vette coil and the accel has the ign module for chevy other than vette
oOOOK ! I had the same problem with my last Accel distributor , it finally got replaced after 2 years ! This morning I removed all the electronics from the GM distributor and put them in the Accel distributor , no change ! Then I removed the shaft from the GM distributor and installed it in the Accel distributor and that solved the problem ! They both use a .500 shaft , the GM is a rebuilt distributor , and they use a larger shaft and bronze bushing like the Accel ! Apparently there must be something different the way the shafts are made , the pickup coil cant get a proper reading from it ! It must alter the timing advance !!!!!!!! Oh well ...had it dynoed for nothing ! 400 ponies to the ground and 460 ft pounds ! Thanks for those of you that responded !!
