Default Breathless? Don't hold your breath!

Breathless' product is a fantastic concept, but their quality is "sub par" to be diplomatic... I returned all but 1 Rammer I ever sold for warpage issues, and refuse to sell their product until they do something about quality (not likely).

Just cut the lid and save your money.

It isn't any different.

I've done the stock setup, teh cut lid with a clean paper filter, teh cut lid with the K&N and now have the SLP Claw.

I can tell you from experience(not seat of the pants because that don't work) that there is no difference. The only thing the cut lid does is get your filter dirtier quicker.

You aren't going to flow anymore air with the different setups. With the true cold air intakes you may see a small gain due to the colder air, these would include the BPP(only good above 80 mph), the TPiS reverse setup(don't ask me to explain, it's too tough) and the one that goes in place of the license plate.

Anything else is the same as stock and on a stock engine, there is no use.

Before I went to the Claw, I had the stock air lid with the K&N, the K&N is good because it will be with you for the life of the car.

Do you hear a whistle at idle with the SLP? Mine is very noticeable. It really shrieks against a wall at the entrance ramp.

Aerodynamics dictates 3 round tubes flow better than the 1"x17" air passage funneled to the neck of the stock piece. How much better to influence performance is the debate.

I disagree...at least per my experience w/ my car. I can hear the "air-sucking sound/whistle" with the hood closed, but of course less than when open.

With the SLP installed, you will hear a very noticeable increase in air-intake noise over the stock setup.

I'm still dying to see an instaled pic of the SLP. If it looks as good as I think it would, ima go get one, and the smooth ducts.

If it were not covered by the hood, I would agree, but it's so tight under there, it's a wonder any air gets to it.

12.99@106mph in my stock six speed is enough for me to believe the engineers knew what they were doing.

I have them somewhere, it showed a small gain above 80 mph and about a tenth in the 1/4

I had the Claw on my 95 LT-1 and have a cut-lid w/paper filter on my 96 LT-4. They both feel identical... good for a few hp I suppose, SOTP. And the sound is indeed better with either setup, vs. stock. For what it's worth, I'm just as happy with the cut lid as I was with the claw, and it's more than $200. cheaper.

It definitely sounds louder and subjective better than the cut lid, and does give some of that "intake drone" similar to what you hear on some of the imports. The difference being, that on a Corvette with a healthy exhaust, it just blends to sound wicked. An improvement just in that and of course looks. The construction is top notch as well, something that can't be said for some of it's competitors.

When I was shopping for one new, before snagging one on Ebay, (Item# 110034866679) Corvette Central had the best overall deal with the free shipping they were offering at the time. Otherwise you were almost as good to order it directly from SLP since the other vendors (MAM etc.) were crushing you on shipping.

SLP is in the next town over fromme, so shipping is not an issue also, they used my car as a test car for their products so I ended up getting it for free.
