Not everyone wants to cut their radiator shroud up or tolerate the horrible quality of the vortex rammer. Your claim of slower ets with the slp intake is absurd.
I don't do online fights because it is like the Special Olympics, so just PM Red96Coupe and he will be able to back my claims up as he is the one that did the testing.

and I was there.
I will say that the quality of the airbridge is a bit inferior, it happens on both C4 and C5, they tend to collapse under acceleration.
Mr. Mojo what air bridge are you talking about collapsing? I wish they had a carbon fiber setup for C4s to replace both the bellows. The smooth ones crack, right?

The one that goes from the box to the throttlebody.
I'll reiterate what I said about the Rammer... it's a great concept. Couple it with a BMAD and you do have a good foundation for an actual working cold air system. This being said, the issues I've personally had with the plastic warping (both the bridge AND the filter housing warp) lead me to believe that this product is overpriced for what you get (basically a K&N style cone filter and some cheap plastic pieces) and does not justify the price for the Rammer. In hotter climates (here in Florida for example), the warpage issue is a real problem condition.
The SLP Claw is a quality piece (made of steel which does NOT warp), and you can get the same "ram effect" by cutting the radiator shroud below the air cleaner elements. If BPP would make the Rammer housing and (most importantly) the bridge out of aluminum or carbon fiber, then I'd recommend it as a viable alternative to the Claw. Neither system gives you the advertised HP gain on a chassis dyno (the end all and be all to a lot of forum members, it seems), but as Mojo stated before, it does come into play at higher vehicle speeds (which no fan in the world save a wind tunnel can recreate). I myself test most mods on the one "dyno" that doesn't lie...the racetrack.
We can go back and forth on this all day long (seems to be a popular thing to do anyway), but I think the point's been made.

Why do they collapse???
If it is from a vacuum inside, then there is more than the airbridge that is inferior.
One of the several problems with ALL the intake upgrades is than none of them appear to increase the size of the air filter element, in fact it appears to me that some, including the BPP unit actually are smaller than the OEM......the SLP snorkel is virtually identical to my OEM----I know I measured mine..
Don't have an answer to that, but I do know that once they do, they don't always pop back into the original shape leaving a huge gap where unfiltered air can enter.
No hijack here - just a thought:
I have found that SLP has basically forgotten about the C4 product line ever since they dropped their 1 3/4 inch shorty headers a year or more ago. Ya, there are a few products in their stable still for us, but on the whole - we are now a financial liability to them in terms of development of "new" items for 84-96 corvette's. The money is now in the LSx arena and that's where they are targeting their research and products.

Well last year they borrowed my car to develop new products, well at least the exhaust was new.
If you go to Mid America's website and listen to the SLP exhaust sound clip, that's my car you're hearing.
SLP developed the 330 trac pac(or something like that) and used my car. They say 330 hp will come from this package, but my car put out 350(at the crank).
The package included shorty headers(which look good, but no real benefit) the claw, 1.6 rockers and the cat back exhaust. They also put in the all important 1000hp adding air foil.
I have to disagree when I bought my vette it was all stock After I put on the Vortex Rammer Cold Air I could feel, and tell a major difference in my horsepower gains...Super Acceleration and you could feel it, Glad I invested in the Vortex Also my vette Temp also decreased a good bit with the Vortex installed Great Product Recomend this one http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...dept%5Fid=1758

Maybe since you bought it with it you aren't used to what it sounds like stock
Exactly...
Compared to the stock setup there is a very noticeable increase in air-intake noise w/ the "claw' installed. Kinda sounds like the ol' carbureted engines if you took the air-cleaner off.
