Default Scorp..............................

I bought the same wire looms that you did from Summit (Made for You). The aluminum brackets that screw into the block went on fine...but when I began screwing the small filter that connects to the exhaust manifold (passenger and driver side) I ran out of room. How did you bypass this problem? Extension?

Thanks,
Dave

Hmm.... I'm not exactly following you. Small filter? You wouldn't happen to be able to take a picture would you?

Does this help at all?

On the picture you just posted....there is a silver tube, directly under the wires, that connects the exhaust manifold to a black rubber hose. There is an acorn shaped filter (directly under the front plastic wire retainer in your picture) that screws into the the front of the filter.

This filter on my '88 hits the aluminum bracket that holds the red plastic wire retainer. In your picture it looks as if this filter, along with the silver tube, have been pushed away from the engine a bit.

Did you have to alter anything to get the aluminum brackets to fit?

I used force.... seriously. I had to bend the EGR tubing away from the heads a little bit to get the brackets in there.

Here is another angle.....

Scorp,
Thanks a lot. I just wanted to make sure that this was the way to do it before I started "bending things." :D

You're welcome. Hopefully after this she'll only be in 999 pieces!

Scorp, which looms did you order from Summit? I just got a new set of Taylors, but I dont want to put them in yet because for some reason, there are no looms in there. The old wires are all put in on top of everything, not where they are supposed to be. I went to the dealer to get the factory looms that bolt to the valve covers, and they wanted like 100 bucks for the parts, and I don't know which ones to order from the catalog. Also, do you think that the ones you have would work on my '85 without aluminum heads? I want to order these before I put the wires in so they don't end up resting on the exhaust manifold.... Thanks in advance

For the wire looms (I bought the exact set as Scorp):
http://www.made4uproducts.com
Click on Wire Loom Kits
Click on Chevy Center Bolt Kits for the aluminum brackets (bolt onto the engine block)
Click on V-8 Separator Kits for the vertical or horizontal plasitic wire looms

Don't buy directly from made4uproducts. It's actually cheaper to buy from http://www.summitracing.com
The part numbers at summit are the same as the numbers at made4uproducts...just stick "mfy" before the number (made for you).

The aluminum brackets are $20.95 (set of 4)
The vertical wire loom kit is $43.25

:D :D :D :D :D Enjoy!

Yup, that is what I bought. I can't believe the foolish brackets were $20 bucks. There is another and cleaner (in my opinion) style that brings the wires straight over the valve covers. I didn't get them because it covers the emblem on the driver's side.

Makes it look like this....

Holy..... they didn't have these a month or so ago.... I kinda like them!
