Default which adjustable pressure regulator?

I see a lot of mention of Holly's adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Is it a "drop in" replacement for the original or is something that has to be rigged to work? Where to get them and anyone have a specific part number for an 86? Figure if I'm going to pull the injectors out, might as well upgrade the pressure regulator at the same time. Arlon

You'll need the security torx bit to remove the stocker. I didn't have one and just knocked the pins out, easy. I used different runners and had to grind down the back of the plenum for the Holly to fit. I am not sure if it fits ok with stock parts. It did not take long to grind some clearance.

Holley fit my 86 pretty well. I did notice you have to grind the plenum a little to get the dial to turn outward more. If not it will bottom out on the bottom of the plenum and you will not get full adjustability.

I had no install issues with the stock intake or my super ram. Nice piece and easy to adjust.

Get the Holley. Don't even consider any of the others.

as the Holley fit my 89 without modification. This was my second AFPR as the initial Accel unit was a POS!

Maybe you'll be lucky and not have to grind the plenum a bit with a dremel, but the HLY-512-501 from Summit is the only way to go.

Default fuel rails

anyone ever consider getting their fuel rails polished while they are out? i polished mine to a beautiful finish. i installed an adjustable pressure regulator at the time, set it to factory spec though, all the reading ive done shows factory spec is optimal. what does everyone else set em to?

No never polished my fuel rail. Though you don't have to remove the fuel rail to install a AFPR. It should be set at stock pressures until you have it dyno tuned and let the tuner decide what is optimal.
