I have a 94 with the LT-1 and the OBDII. I can not pull any fault codes my scanner just reads FAILED. What caused me to find this problem was the car failed emissions test so I decided to hook it up to the scanner to see how it was running. The car was running and all accesories where working and no check engine light. I know my scaner is good and I have tried a different scaner with the same result. Per the GM manual disconnected all computers, harness checked good said replace CCM. Had the CCM checked by a shop that repairs computers for cars they said it checks fine. I am going to pickup the computer tomorrow and hook it up to see if the problem is still there. I am thinking it is the ECM but the car is running anyone have this problem?
The 1994 has OBD I
Can your scanner read OBD I?
If you need, request (or search for) the method of accessing codes via the digital display.
What was the cause of emissions failure?
my 95z28 has the same setup, obdII connector with and obdI system. the only way I could read the code was to get a cable from amk or amdk cables I will post the website when I get out of class. the only draw back is you need a laptop or (like me) know some one who has one you can use.

If you want to pull codes, the 94 has a real nice on board self test where you can get the codes without a scanner. Each module has its own set of codes. If you short 4 to12 on the ALDL connector and then turn the key on, it will display all the codes. You will need some practice and education on the system but it does work great.
