I want to buy a 96 but don't know how to pull the codes using the digital display before I buy it. How is it done? Also, is there a reference guide that explains the codes? Much thanks to anyone who can help.

Is there a Auto Zone Auto Supply where you live? If so they will scan for codes free. I will look in my two GM Shop Books. I am sure some of the other LT4 owners will post.
I don't own the car yet. I need to be able check out the car at the guy's house. Somebody told me you can access the codes through the digital display that's on the dashboard, by turning the key and pushing some buttons on the dash, Do you know how to do that?

What about codes for the The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) , Automatic Slip Regulation (ASR), Selective Ride System (SRS) as well as the Air Conditioner Controller, the Air Bag's computer system (called the DERM module) plus the Central Control Module (CCM). Can you tell me how to find these codes?
Thanks for the help. I'll buy the engine code reader and be able check it out on my Venture Van and Impala as well.
Have you heard of anyone checking codes on a car before they buy it?

I might be crazy, but most over the counter readers are only going to read the Engine codes and not the ABS or Body control codes, to get all these your looking at a Tech or Genisys scanner which is big bucks. Just my thoughts
