Is this a good mod to do on a high mileage engine that hasn't been rebuilt? Will this cause complications down the road? The reason I ask is because I have 111,000 miles on my vert.

As long as you change the valve springs at the same time youll be fine.

With the exception of cost, I do not think there are any disadvantages to running roller rockers.

How difficult is it to do this? I have never done it before but have accomplished alot of projects I took on with my vert.

5 hr job. I remove all of the spark plugs to close the valves, then use the rope trick.

It's not that difficult, but a little time consuming.

I would. With stock LT1 springs and 1.6 rockers, you'll be very close to coil bind. At the very least I would install the LT4 springs.

Do the '96 LT1 require self aligning rocker arms? Do they have guide plates (or cast in pushrod guides) installed from the factory?

Reason is, I have a set of NSA rockers that I am looking to install on a 96 LT1.

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

The 96 LT1's came with self-aligning rockers, no guide plates.

So if i'm going to a 1.6 roller rocker on my L98 I should also change my valve springs? If I don't will it weaken the springs down the road? What springs should I use for the swap from stock rockers to the 1.6 rr's Pipe

Yes you should change your valve springs
(no one seems to have noticed that has been said allready!!)

The stock springs are about all that is stopping you from revving past 5,850 rpm. Change the springs and youre good for 1.6:1 RRs and also more revs. You can reuse the stock springs if ya like, after all, you own the car.

Default Different problem but same topic

I am putting '85 heads with '85 intake, etc. on a '90 block to put in an '85 coupe. Do I use self aligning rockers or not? On vendor sites they say '86 small block and up to use self aligning types but I don't know if that applies with '85 heads.

Hey,
Does anyone know the aftermarket valave spring part number (Crane , Comp Cams , etc) for a 1992 LT1 ? That's if I do not want to use the LT4 springs with my Roller Rocker upgrade.
