ok so it was just brought to me that my 1990 corvette engine is not the lt1...it is the L98...are there any other engines that were put into the '90 corvettes...there is a sticker under the hood that reads"L1G5.7LV8....." what is that saying....let me know..thank you
so..did i get a ***** car...i think they are like 250 hp...is that any good..or *****
You tell us. Does it run good enough for you? If not, I guess it is a turd.
I was very pleased with my 87 l-98 when it was stock. I like it better now though.
yeah..well im 16...and its more than i have ever had..ever driven..so yeah its good..but now i am getting the need for speed...well not really..but idk..thinking bout it...250 hp...i no that is a lot...and i think around that for torque too..but idk..i NEED a new exhaust which will give it more..and a cold air intake and MAYBE i will get the chip put in...but the chip i might sell...
yeah i read somewhere the torque is pretty good..but hp isnt the greatest...haha..young gun at 25...my mom bought it for me..we are not rich..my grandma just died..and we got something special..so we got a vette....so what does this car top out at...i dont think ill ever do that..seriously...i promised my mom..but just let me know..im curious..so i dont have to find out on my own..haha
Your car is a cool car and not a turd. You need to read a little bit about engine building and what the specific advantages of the L98 engine were. Peak HP is not the be-all-end-all. Not only that but the L98 engine is a really nice looking engine
Fill out your profile so we know where ya live because whenever you need help with your vette this is the first place you should come to. Lots of friendly people here who enjoy helping others get started.
Learn to drive & maintain your car properly. Believe me very few 16 yr olds get to own a vette

I was 17 when I got my first Corvette (91 coupe). Found out the hard way that it did ~140 mph before I flew off the road. I don't suggest driving that fast unless you are at the right location with people near by.
sorry to hear that..and its good to at least no ur ok...yeah that is y i asked..so i dont have to top it out on my own...ill fill out my profile sometime today...thanks
Seriously though, you won't want to hear this, but everyone's gonna tell you. The stock vette is more than you can handle if you try to drive it to the limits. I'm only 21 now, and before my first vette I had driven plenty of rear-wheel drive V8 cars. First thing I did in the vette? Spun it off a turn in a light rain. The car will go 150, but that's a VERY bad idea, especially since you just got it and haven't had time to figure out anything the last owner may have done wrong on it. Drive it stock until you get the hang of it. Then, if you're gonna modify it do it yourself. That way you'll be invested in the car and you won't go show it off right into a tree when it's faster. C4s are great cars, and I'm sure you'll have fun.
