I see the X-pipe installed after the resonator on your system as being redundant, since you already have an H-pipe on it before the resonator. Can you explain the purpose of the X-pipe here?

Because for one, the H is almost back at the mufflers, and the opening inside the pipe comes nowhere near the pipe diameter of the crossover pipe (the crossover pipe is about 1-1/2" diameter, and the holes drilled in the tailpipes is approximately 3/4 - 1" in diameter). I cut one apart and found this out.

You also have a resonator right underneath you, which the only purpose seems to be to CREATE resonance rather than curtail it on an LTX application.

To the poster asking if all dual in dual out Magnaflows have a Tru-X, they are not all Tru-X mufflers.

Soooo...I suppose the $64K question is...does anyone currently make a 2 3/4" X-pipe that we can use on our stock pipes (or in my case my PE 2 3/4" system) Looks like RacerX70CC will have the market cornered. How soon you going to have them finished racer?

OK, I am back from the shop I went to yesterday...they are hot rod guys and real gearheads...they custom fabbed up an X-Pipe and installed it for $110.00 out the door...after install, when they started the car, it sounded very different than it did before...I revved it a few times and the exhaust note grew on me quickly...sounds very cool...

I pulled out of their shop and, of course, had to blast it immediately...I don't know what happened but SOTP told me it was quicker...it really moved and the sound was wicked...I kept it at WOT till third gear and she was movin' real good...same lightining fast shifts at 5900 rpm...

I am a very happy camper...Woot!

Oh yeah...on the drive home there was no resonance (like before), just a different but sweet exhaust note...

It looks cool and makes people ask questions to which I can bull$##$ an answer to. No seriously, it probably does nothing, I bought the used system like this. Came off a ZR1.

I'm waiting on the manufacturer.... Supposedly the next run is three weeks, so I should have them just before Christmas (fingers crossed)

KID, I THOUGHT THAT THE RESONATOR ON OUR 95s WAS THE SAME AS AN XPIPE. DID YOU LEAVE YOUR RESONATOR ON AND ADD THE XPIPE (AND WHERE), OR DID YOU REMOVE THE RESONATOR.

Yes, buy removing the factory resonator and installing a Xpipe in it's place you will flow more exhaust and have more low end torque. How much more I do not know as I have not seen any dyno charts from before and after the swap. But I have driven several LT1 that have done this and they pulled harder in the lower rev's. I am sure some of the CF members have done this is and will reply. RACERX70CC should have a better idea.

Recently at the Craftsman Truck race at PIR ( Phoenix ) I got a chance to look under a Toyota truck.
Guess what? No X-Pipe.......but they had the H-Pipe,
and Toyota trucks run very strong.

So does it matter where the location of the X-pipe is?

Should it be closer to the front, middle or rear of the car?

I have an early C4 w/ custom 2 1/2" dual exhaust (no cat).

Most of the X pipes I have seen are installed in the middle of the cat back where the resoniator was. I think you need some tail pipe length after the cross over pipe (X) but I am not sure how much length is best. I bet RacerX70CC has a better idea. If he does not post on this, PM him as his shop has done a lot of Dyno testing on this topic. I have a order for a X pipe for my LT4 that will replace the resonator.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving

I know I'm a noob.... I have an 86E and was planning on doing a custom exhaust anyway. If I was to do an X-pipe would I simply put it before the cat or in place of them. I'm going to be running TPIS headers and I already have a magnaflow catback so I was wondering if I replaced the cat if it would make me def. or if the sound would be reasonable.

Thanks for your time,
Merritt

I would have the X pipe installed after the cat and have the cat back redone to have the X pipe installed. In Texas we Have to have cats for out State Inspection Sticker. They run a smog test here Good for the clean air bad for more HP Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks and good thing ohio doesn't require anything . And since my car is almost a classic I soon won't have to worry about it anyway.

Thank you!
