Default Quick EGR Question

I'm Installing Headers on my 86 and I know I need to use a heated o2 sensor..But what do I do with the flexable tube coming out of pass side going into the manifold ??? It looks like it has a o2 sensor on it also ..Do I just plate the manifold and leave the sensor hooked up and coiled up somewhere?? If I do this will I throw a code or run poorly.. My New headers have no provisions for this stuff..

Yes, a plate for the manifold. You can remove all of the EGR parts and not get a code.

I made block off plates(also did the diaphragm) out of 1/4'' aluminum plate and terminated the EGR wire in the bundle. 3 years, no codes, no problems.
Oh, and no headaches with valve cover removal

Use a blockoff plate for the manifold, and cut the wiring to the EGR solenoid/switch. This by itself doesnt trigger a code. Eventually you will get on the highway and up to temperature for EGR, and a Code 32 will set. Mine only does it when the engine is really hot and only in extended part throttle running. To completely remove that, you must have the chip reprogrammed.

A heated sensor is not strictly required, you may find that your mileage still improves with the stock sensor and headers, but it wont hurt anything to replace the sensor.

The flexible pipe supplies the exhaust gas to be recirculated. The thing with the wire is the diagnostic temp switch. I removed mine and cut the wire. Block the ports with aluminum plates. It may or may not throw a code 32. You can get a custom prom to eliminate the EGR diagnostics. I can send you a bin if you know someone with a burner. If not, pcmforless is a good source. You will go into closed loop faster and stay in it longer with a heated 02. Not too hard to install. Just need a switched 12v source.
