94 6Spd coupe. I know I need my fronts cause I bottom real easy on speed bumps. But Rears seem ok and I really dont want to replace them if they dont need em.

So my question is - Is it best to replace all 4 now or can I do only my fronts.

Call me lazy but dont want to spend the money or time on rears that may, probrably dont need to be replaced.

Advice welcomed !!

Yes, it is best to replace all four shocks...and yes, you can replace just the fronts.
How many miles are on the rears??

Old back shocks on mine made the car harsh over bumps. If you are not bothered by this, just replace the fronts.

Just my .02$ worth, but I would do all four. Usually you can get a deal on four from places like Ecklers or Mid-America.

Now if your paying for someone to install them, I understand the reluctence, as everything is double if it is a Vette..............

It's fine to do fronts now and rears later. Just be sure to match them up. It is somewhat normal for the fronts to wear out quicker than the rear.

Lazy? Cheap? Both? Heck if you really are all of those just replace the left front, after all that is the only side of the car you sit in.

I recently replaced JUST THE FRONTS! on my 95 A4 w/FE1. These cars are way to soft in front IMHO. I installed a set of Z51 bilsteins. YES I am very happy with the way it rides now. Hope this helps. AS soon as wally wallet allows I'm putin' a set on da back.

Not really worried about the money.... But since Im gonna attempt to do the job myself - I think Im gonna just do the fronts. Since thats where all the action (and weight) is. I really dont feel the rears need replacement.

Just wanted some constructive opinions - I guess you'll always get both !!!

Sorry if I confused you Larry. Dont want to spend the time or money doing rears if they dont need it. That was my point from the start.

Just did all 4 on my 94 with HD Bilsteins. The rear has much more contact with the ground and does not come around when I hit a bump in a turn. The entire ride is much better and pleasurable to drive. Don’t have to avoid all the manholes and such I used to drive around.

I’m sure the fronts added to the better ride where now I’m not knocked around like I was before. Even the wife likes it better.

I understand.

Now, keep this in mind: if the fronts are worn out, why wouldn't the rears be worn out as well? Haven't they traveled just as many miles as the front shocks....?
I'd replace them all, if it were my Corvette. ....ESPECIALLY if money was not an issue.

what if you leave the old rears and the new fronts raise the front of the car . just replace all 4 the same time it's only $150 more if your doing it yourself.
