That is the knock filter. It conditions the signal from your knock sensors, located on the lower engine block, both sides.

Scranage, Do you know if a Hypertech chip replaces it. I looked up the chip for my car and it shows a picture of a whole memcal and a chip adapter that incorporates my original "knock sensor" chip? Im gonna call Hypertech on Mon. Just thought I'd try here first.

Sorry, I don't know anything about their product. What I have seen is some tuners ship a reprogrammed FBody MEMCAL with an FBody knock circuit to us vette owners, which really ticks me off. We have two knock sensors, and different knock sensor circuits. For the 92/93 vette ecm, you should have a 1172121 or 2172121 resistor network installed in your memcal from what I have seen. The FBody memcals have different parts, not surprisingly. I have a 93 Camaro Memcal with a 1302345 knock circuit. I don't know how important the difference is, but I generally never change anything unless I really know what I'm doing, and I have to assume GM didn't create different knock circuits for no good reason other than to drive up their costs.

That's interesting. Mines a 1172121 So I guess its factory. Im just checking out Hypertech and Jet chips, And all seem to show a picture of there products in 3 different styles. A plain chip, A MEMCAL adapter and
a complete MEMCAL? I still want to check out PCMs forless. Thanks for your all your input!
