Default C4 brake calipers

Anyone know of a company that has good brake calipers for Baer stock size rotors, my brakes are still very mushy...have put new rotors(slotted and crossed drilled) but it didn't help.Talked to Baer and they don't make the calipers for C4s. A2sdave.

I'm getting rebuilt factory calipers from CorvetteCentral. For 250 bucks +your old calipers you get 4 rebuilt calipers, new pads, and new hoses.

You didn't fill out your profile so we need to know what year the car is.

New rotors won't really change "mushy" brakes. If you have a soft pedal, you should start by doing a complete fluid flush. Check the condition of the brake hoses; the could be soft with age and are expanding as you apply pedal pressure.

There are a good number of rebuilt calipers available for C4's that see primarily street use. Raybestos has some decent ones (rebuilt in the USA!!) and you should be able to get them at a CarQuest store or NAPA. Get new hoses and fluid at the same time.

What pads are you running and how old are they? If they are worn, then you may be seeing extra pedal travel due to the wear. The caliper piston bores may be rough or even rusty which may keep the pistons from sliding easily.

This is a good start. A soft pedal will generally come form air in the system or a bad master. All the other stuff pads, rotors and such will not give you a soft pedal.

Is this soft pedal a new symptom or are you having poor stopping power thinking its soft by pushing on it so hard. A normal pedal travel is about 2 ¼ inches with engine running. Measure from steering wheel to pedal with tape measure.

I don't know why Baer told you don't make calipers for the C-4 Corvette. Most all of their brake Upgrade kits use the same PBR caliper that is used by the Corvette J-55 heavy duty brake option. It will bolt right to any 88-96 Corvette.
