Wow, never heard of a SP intake until today. Simple Idea really.

Very interesting thread.

Curveit,
I don't use an elbow. I started off with a 1000cfm throttle body and went to a 1300cfm throttle body. They are 4 bbl style.

I've seen one of the manifolds done by intakeelbows, the work was really nice. The elbow looks too tall to fit under a stock hood, unless you run a short intake. THe taller intakes, sgl plane, have longer runners and will make more torque + higher rpm hp.

I've run just about every intake for the gen I, both carbed and injected, tunnel rams, sgl planes, Holley SR, Mini Ram, one of the original 1st injection on a 355 - I think the tb is too small to run on a big inch motor, a 90mm would be better.

I don't think you can have too big a tb on injection, it'll get lazy at low rpms - velocity falls off. Heck carbs make more power bigger, to a point.

My next project is going to be a Hurricane EFI.

Johhny,
I have likewise run all of the diferent intakes on the Gen1 SBC. This, in my book, is the final iteration. Each step up was to gain additional torque (and HP), until I went FI. Then I switched from the SR to the MRII, actually hoping to loose a bit of low end torque in favor of high end HP. It didn'y happen then, nor when I went to the C4SP.

I am over 500 ft-lbs of torque at just over 3100 RPM with the C4SP, and over 700 from 4800 - redline. This intake has worked well. Though I can not say the say for the MB. I finally had to modify the throttle blade to prevent it from "hanging" open under more than 3/4 throttle positions.

I did not go with the 4 bbl type tb because that would have posed even more issues with FI. Though I think those set-ups are cool.

What is Hurricane EFI? Is this the LPG system?

I actually e-mailed The "Intakeelbows" people back in July about an Edlebrock RPM conversion. They said it would be $175 plus $140 for fuel rails. Of course, you supply your own manifold. The elbow measured 4.75" tall and 4.75" forward from the center, done to clear the thermostat housing. I was wondering if they did the plenum in the AKS Racing pics, and if you managed to get it under a stock hood.

My elbow is not from www.intakeelbows.com, it was home fabbed. The complete package clears the factory hood assy with no issue.

Aaron, could you measure your elbow?

How does it compare to the 4.75" tall and 4.75" forward or intakeelbows.com ?

Thanks!
