Default Intake question

I have noticed with all the hundreds of ''miniram vs superram'' threads some one will post 'converted single plane = best of both intakes' What i would like to know is what is a converted single plane ???? is it a carb set up, TBI or fuel injection? Also how much would it cost? And would i beable to run nitrous with a converted single plane? Not to be a pain and ask to many questions but would i need anything special to do the set up on a stock engine such as after-market heads, cam, pistons and ignition?

Thanks guys

C4SP installed with D1R

You need a stout motor (typically larger cubes) to handle the larger C4SP.

Well, around June 2006, I took of my SuperRam, sold it and got a brand new full MiniRam kit for $1400 shipped. Dunno how much better/more expensive this would be... Also looks much easier to get to the distributer.

Gotta build your own... or pay somebody to do it. It's not an "off the shelf" part.

Sorry gents for posting, then walking away. Sometimes we have to work. Judging by the emails and PMs, some of you would like to follow the same route.

Several different manifold manufacturers offer the intakes with cast bungs straight from the foundry. Some intakes have to still be drilled to open the injector bore (remember it is basically a carbed intake until the injector bores are opened), and some are already drilled. Check Summit and Jegs for several examples. There will be some slight changes required for the t-stat housing. Be creative! The 90° intake elbows can be had from any of many vendors. Probably the cheapest I have found is www.intakeelbows.com

Make sure that whoever you use for fabrication is reputable and knows what they are doing. You do not want to loose a car to fire due to an injector popping out of the fuel rail because someone didn't know what they were doing. Not good!

I still have the MRII that I had cut apart, ported, welded back together. This thing has been on and off of the flow bench, and was well balanced front to rear. Unfortunately, when you get into big boost and high HP, you will find that the front cylinders tend to run rich and the rear cylinders get lean. It seems that in high flow applications, no matter what you do, the air doen't want to make that 90° turn. With a C4SP, I have found that all the plugs are fairly uniform.

Johnny has the right idea. But... I will warn you that you do not want to drop this on a fairly stock engine (small cubes), as these intakes were originally designed to carry enough air and fuel to support a decent SBC. In these modern applications, they are just carrying air with the same cross sectional area. So... just make sure if you go this route that your engine is set up to "pull" this kind of airflow, or it will be "lazy".

My car makes power from 1600 - 6500RPM, with peak on the dyno at 5950RPM. It is very streetable even with the "monster" SR cam that I am running. I hope to have some vids up this weekend to illustrate the manners of this car.

If there are further questions, I would be glad to address.

There's no disagreement in what this intake or the converted Victor's applications are.
You'll need a good cam and heads to support these intakes.
The ProRam fits Felpro 1204/5 gaskets out of the box
The Super Victor fits Felpro 1206 gaskets out of the box

There is lotsa room for full porting, my ProRam is cut for 1206s and flowed to over 335 cfm with a 1300 cfm throttle body, on 310 cfm heads.

The ProRam will work on a good 350, out of the box, and make power @ 2k-6k easily.
There's no doubt it'll make more average power, out of the box, than the Super Victor on a smaller engine- >370ci. Flowed will make more average power than the Super Victor on the bigger cubes and probably as much peak HP as the Super Victor, and definitely more torque.

In fact, unported, it made as much power and torque as my Holley Stealth Ram on my hot cam, 1.6RR, 90-350ci, and had more torque than my Mini Ram and all had 1000 cfm throttle bodys.

I changed because the mixture distribution is more even and a better plate can go between the tb and the intake.

What I'd like to do is EFI a Hurricane and probably beat them both.

Gary, if Jeb, jburnett, has the time I'm sure he'll fab up one for you.
Intakeelbows has good prices, $315 + shipping and your intake will get you what you want, EFI intake and fuel rails.

Mine is a home converted Weiand Team G. It cost more to do the home converted than to purchase the as cast intakes. If I had it to do again, I would go with one of the foundry cast intakes and buy or fab the elbow.
