I have a sweet, all original 84 Corvette, just about everything works great.
BUT my Bose stereo has issues! All speakers work fine (sometimes), whenever I go over a bump on the road the rear and left front side speakers drop out, the only way to have it start again is to find another bump (which is not hard to find in Wisconsin). Is there anyone else that has had this problem?
yes, but why do 5 speakers go out at one time. and then all 6 will work perfectly? If it were a bad amp. proplem wouldnt the speakers cut in and out more randomly? I really dont know and was hopeing someone out there has had a similar proplem.
You may consider taking your head unit out and sending it to Dr. Dons for a refub . .. . doesnt cost much and you can then check the wiring and rule the head and rear connections out.
Hi again Guys; Thanks for the imput, doesn't sound like anyone has had the same proplem. I see in the wireing diagram,[gen G.M. electrical manual]. that there is a relay that sends power out to the speaker amps. but just one pink w/black stripe wire that then splits off somewhere down the line. looks like getting dash apart and chaseing all these wires for a bad conn. someplace could turn into a major job. Photo in the manual shows relay mounted to aframe support, Iam not sure but it looks like it's behind the crash pad on the left side, [closer to center dash.] can anyone clear this up for me. hopeing I dont have to take entire car apart to find this gremlin. My garage is cold this time of year. And as a side note; Hello to the Green Hornet up in marshfield.
that relay is behind the lamp selector panel...hard to get to and replace, most people pull the connector and replace with a new relay and leave the old one snapped in and just tape the new on next to it BUT the relay is working since if it was out all four amps would be out, it just turns power on to all the amps. I am betting head unit problem.
I see 8 wires coming out the stereo marked C A K H D B & L J . All of them go threw a single "shield" in the wireing diagram with the exception of the R.rear , it go's threw 2 such "shields" with a connection inbetween them. oddly it's the right rear that allways plays. What are these "Shields". and what do they look like. They look like blue cylinders on the diagram but I cant find a photo.
