Both kits are good. Transgo is much smoother from what I've heard and is a little bit more difficult to install.
I use the B&M kit on mine. Some say it shifts much harder but I don't think it does. I like the way it shifts. B&M is pretty simple to install. I know nothing about transmissions and did mine.

I did the B&M Transpac kit. If I were to do it again I would use the Transgo kit. I have read poeple saying the Transgo kit comes with a new plate for the valve body. Also I would like the 2-3 shift more firm. Hope this helps.

Actually, the transgo does not come with a plate. I do recommend buying one though. The checkballs beat up the old plate pretty good, as do the accumulator springs.
I recommend the transgo too. It is expensive though. Kit +new plate+2 new accumulator springs+.471 boost valve+new lo-rev boost valve=about $200. On the bench, a transgo kit adds 3 hrs to the rebuild. It is going to be a bear to do in the car. Also, to do the full kit, you need to disassemble the input drum to put the high tension springs in.

I had a B&M. It shifted hard all the time. My second trany has a Transgo. It shifts firmly. At WOT it shifts hard and much later at about 4800 RPMs. If you want really good results go to a trany expert. Be prepared to send $. If you want a quick and easy fix get a B&M.
