I've been told that my door hinge pins are worn. The doors are a little hard to close. Is there a way to adjust them or replace the hinge pins so the will shut like new?
replace pins and bushings. search for a nice writeup on it.
So is this something I can do? Can you just change the pins and bushings without removing the hinges? I did a search and couldn't find a good thread for this adjustment.
can the door hinge pins cause the doors not shut properly ??
I've had a problem with my driverside door NEVER shutting all the way unless I give the door a pretty hard push. But the door shuts fine if the window is not up all the way, its like if the glass is up all the way then its a problem...Can I get inside the door and adjust the door glass track somehow ? I have been in there quite awhile ago and replaced the window motor--then again, when I shut the door with the glass down some, the glass hits against something inside the door and is loud,

I had the same issue. I ordered my bushings and pins from one our supporting vendors. I had a lot of up and down play when the door was opened. Closes like it was when it was new

I'll try to find the nice how to on this.
Thanks great info. Did you remove the hinges to replace the pins and bushings? Also, I can't find the parts on Eckler's or Mid America. Where can I find them?
i got mine at dealer. i think any auto parts stor might sell them. you dont take hinge off. you sopport door and do one at atime. its been a long time since i did it,and, dont remember all the details. thats why i said do a search.
If you remove that lower fender you can get right to hinge. Do one at a time and reinstall before tackling other one. As i remember on my 84 you had to get inside door to hold a plate that is used on door side of bolts. Not a real hard job just takes patience. Theres a guy on ebay that sells the pins and bushing kit. Good luck.
I found the pins for $7.00 each and the bushings for $2.00 on the Corvette America website. With the info I got from the thread I should be able to do it myself. After 18 years of use my hinge pins and bushings are shot. Thanks to all. You saved me $$$$.
Hey, that's my write up. I'm glad to see someone actually use it.
This is a really rewarding job, after you get the bushings and pins replaced; adjusting the door is easy because there's no slop in the hinges. When you move the door up down in and out to adjust, you don't have to take into consideration "hinge slop" because there is none.
Like I said in the write up, adjusting your doors isn't complicated it just takes a lot of times adjusting this, moving the door this way or that way, closing it slowly, looking at things, and thinking about which way to adjust things. Use your geometry lessons, that's all it is.

We got our hinges from Autozone, about $8 bucks. Replaced one hinge at a time. If you have a small angle grinder, once you have the hinge removed the use the grinder to chew off the extra metal on the pin. Drive it out. Put in new pin and bushing, repeat. Piece of cake
