Default Locked the Engine

I have a 427 SB in my '84, I have allways pulled the engine from side raising clam shell as hi as I could get it then block it off. I have locked the engine up. If I pull bottom pully & balancer, will I be able to pull motor out with torque converter still bolted to flex plate. Thanks, Hip

yes, but I would try to remove the transmission first. That risks putting a lot of weight on the input shaft.

Getting the tranny out before pulling the motor will reduce the chances of screwing up the tranny or the T/C.

If the motor is seized, you could pull the cylinder heads off first as it sounds like you will be tearing the motor apart. With the heads off, you will have more room to slide the block around.

But to re-install the motor, I would still have the tranny out and replace it once the motor is back in.

I just was in the same position as you are in . Locked up motor in 1994 lt1.

I was able to remove the oil pan and loosen up the rod bolts until I was able to turn the engine over. My enigine had a spun bearing and a blown piston on number 7 cylinder. I removed the balancer in the front of the motor and unbolted the torque converter and suppoerted the trans with a jack stand. Also I remover the engine mount where the attached to the engine. that way you just lift the motor and slide it forward about 1 1/2 inches and lift it out.

It wont hurt anything to pull them both together, personally id separate them first just to make it a bit easier.

What perry said. Why pull the transmission if you don't need to?

Dont drop the trans. Just put a jack under it. No big thing.
