Compression ratio recommendations...
I'm looking for compression ratio recommendations for a naturally aspirated 383 LT1, track only car. I will be running 93 octane in it.
1) How high can I go?
2) Any benefits of going higher/lower?

8.5 dynamic compression ratio seems to be the high end for pump gas, from what iv'e read.

what kind of track? if its road racing you'll be running hotter for longer so maxing the compression won't be fun if you get days with not so up-to-par gas especially in hot weather. I've seen high as 11.8 on the street and most I believe are around 11-11.5.

You need to be concerned with dynamic compression and not static compression. Your cam choice will tell you what you can get away with. My 10.5 static compression turns into 8.5 dynamic compression, with the cam i a running. Use one of the many free calculators on the net.

I've got 11.9 CR static, but have not computed a dynamic number.
My GM847 cam probably keeps it manageable...296/304 duration, etc.
Lots of road racing, pump gas only, 15,000 miles so far.

Yeah, that duration should keep your DCR in a safe place.
