Emission problems!
Over here in The Netherlands we have the obligation to have your car checked yearly to see if the car still meets all safety and emission standards. I had my '93 ZR-1 in a couple of days ago and the shop that checked my car called me with a very disturbing message: the car did not meet emission standards, not by FAR! At an rpm of 2500 the CO value is way too high!
I know that my catalysts were 'empty', this was done by a previous owner. However, when the car was imported in The Netherlands a year ago, they were already empty and the car DID pass emissions then. The shop who sold me the car said that was not strange: the LT-5 is a relatively clean engine that can meet our standards without catalyst.
Today however I was confronted with my engine having a CO of 8 while it has to be 0,4 maximum. That is a VERY large gap between these two values! In my opinion there is something wrong with a sensor, resulting in bad mixture of fuel and air with combustion.
I also had an occasionally "Service engine soon" light the last few weeks for this checkup and the shop told me it was a code 32.
Could this point to the EGR valve not working correctly?
If not, what could cause this? Wrong fuelpressure or another mixed up sensor?
BTW, I assume it's about noon there!
