Weight Reduction (who has the lightest engine)
If it is a loading dock-style with a reasonably large platform, could you
just weigh the complete assembly mounted on an engine stand or
cradle. Weigh the stand before or after, subtract the difference and
shazam !
.
I was able to sort of lift it onto the scale and rest it on the bellhousing side. Seems accurate enough, with the block estimated at 100 (I do not believe Brodix includes the caps in this) and the crank I weighed a year ago at 45.
When it is all together I will see if I can find someone with freight scale, should not be too hard around here.
You should see the look on my wife's face right now
istead of hauling your complete engine to a scale somewhere, why not just continue weighing the individual components/sub-assemblies, and adding the totals up....
ie: assemled heads, weigh one piston/rod/rings asy. X8, ect...
i bought a 30LB. produce scale to weigh lighter parts on...
i even have a 1LB. postal scale...
