Best 96 brake pad replacement ???
All 95 & 96's had 13" brakes. (front)
There are different rotor part numbers because the G.S./Collector rotor has a coating on it to prevent rust.
The G.S./Collector rotors are painted black and have a little more "meat" in them that is supposed to prevent flexing. That (and the cool looks) is what you get when you upgrade.
:yesnod:
Hope this helps.

According to Jeff Kopp Web Pages, there are separate part numbers for J55 and GS calipers. I understand the cosmetic difference in the GS but there are also separate part numbers for the respective pads.
The physical dimensions are the same and you could use one in place of the other however the GS pads are a different material. I do not know the exact difference unfortunately but I will see if I can find out. -Jeff
As for stock pads... I put new stock pads on about 40000km and two years ago. So i figured they would be close to the end of there life, i was wrong. Over half of the compound was remaining.
Anyhoo, they are on, i'm happy and it is one thing off the 'to do' for the Corvette!!!

PS. The one time i actually read the GM Shop manual before doing the job, it was wrong. It said all 96's came with 12" directional castings (rotors) which are interchangeable from left to right. So i did't pay much attention to my dealer acquired rotors. I finished the install on the RHS, and when doing the LHS, i noticed that it had RH stamped on the inside of the rotor. SO it set me back 15 minutes to change the RH rotor. But all is good now. PPS my brake rotors are also 13" diameter......
