I need some help finding a set of emission friendly headers for my 84.
also wondering if anyone knows of a company making a shorty header to fit my car .
I purchased my Long Tubes from TPIS. I was a cheap a$$ and only got the painted ones. For the extra $100.00 i could have & should have purchased the coated. They fit fine and considering I live in CA the smog guy already said it would pass. I put them on my 85.
Look up the MELROSE web site they should have what you need and you can order them with or without JETHOT coating. WE are a happy user of the long tubes

If you or someone could show me a good picture of the 84's right side emissions hook-ups, I may just have the headers you're looking for. They're brand new too and come with a Y-pipe.
Could you tell me the brand and maybe a part # I would check with manufactuer to see if they would work. In the mean time I will try to send you picture.

They're the same as the iron headed L98. Also, the aluminum L98 except no EGR hook up.

I don't have a part number. These are out of production but they are NOS. They were made by Doug Thorley or Thorley's headers. These are two companies that began as the same company but one branched off after a divorce, is my understanding. Either way, Doug Thorley is an old drag racer going back to the 60s and his products are well known. These indeed do not have an EGR port as I understand was the case for the very earliest C4s. They do have the A.I.R. hook-ups. They are indeed for a C4 as I was told when I purchased them. The Y-pipe could be for nothing else but a C4. Also they slid into place easily even on my '95, but did have a slight interference problem on the right side with the late style HVAC box. I test fitted them while working on my car one time out of curiosity. These headers are extremely well built with 3/8" flanges, heavy gauge pipes and are a slip-fit to the Y-pipe. The Y-pipe's rear flange fits the early style c4 cat. They have 1 5/8" primary tubes and are nickle-chrome plated. I would imagine if these were being produced today, they'd be a $600-700 set of headers like all of your best C4 headers are. I'm not asking that much but I'm not giving them away either. If you're interested, I do have some pictures I can send.
