Default Rotor Prices ???

OK, I need some advice here.

Eckler's has replacement Rotors for $39.99. I checked AutoZone and they are at $66.99. What am I missing here?

First you have to make sure they're the same size...ie is AZ is quoting the 13" J55 front rotors and Ecklers is quoting the 12" standard rotors (thru '94)?

Next, where are they made? The cheaper ones tend to be foreign made and have fewer cooling vanes.

I use Raybestos rotors from RockAuto...~$45 each, stock OEM vane count, made in the US or Canada, and they're true (sometimes the cheap ones are warped right out of the box). I use these on road courses and go thru a set just about every other weekend during track season

I agree.

Otherwise you can check out the "Brute Force" rotors that are slotted and drilled...I have them on my C5 and they also make them for the C4....very reasonable from Rockauto....I get tons of parts from them....I think thre rotors are manufactured by Raybestos.

Good Luck

You usually get what you pay for. Good rotors cost $100.00 each.
Great ones cost more.

A common problem with the cheap ones is "core shift".

This means the core mold that creates the gap between rotor sides and between vanes moves relative to the outer mold. So, you get a casting where the sides aren't the same thickness all the way around.

Then when it heats up, it expands unevenly (and dissipates heat unevenly), and the rotor will warp. It's a crap shoot on the cheap rotors. There is zero quality control.
