Default 88 Trans removal

I have to do the clutch in my car. I'm just wondering how much clearance I need to have between the ground and the frame? Should I remove the OD unit from the 4 speed or no? Any tips would be greatly appreciated as I will be doing this alone and on my back.

Get it up to a safe height where you can get under it and move around a bit, you need to support the engine, rig up something like plywood on a floor jack to support the gearbox and OD unit, I would remove as a unit. Just my thoughts. You do not need all the room like an auto.

I've only got about 15 inches right now should that be enough?

I think that sounds like enough.

Yes, please do and if you can post the height of the trans/OD at the tallest point. (PM as well might miss the post)
