Default Front Spoiler ???

I have ordered a few 3 piece spoiler sets through ecklers over the past few months and have had nothing but trouble with them, they just keep breaking, my car sits very low to the ground.

I am wondering is there a better made spoiler set than the one offered at ecklers ???

Is this one any better

Stop running into curbs.

Seriously.....
They get rather more brittle in cold weather, so if you have a lowered car you're probably going to have to put up with frequent replacement...one of the few disadvantages of living in the frozen north.

I have that MAM unit on mine; it seems to be made of the same material as the stock unit was. I've been very happy with it.

I purchased the repo version and installed it. Looks great. You do need to align and attach the three pieces to each other and I did this bydrilling a small hole and bolting them together. I then dabbed black on the bolts. Although I have since scraped it up, I was satisfied.

I had the same problem, order the M1 prowler from ecklers. Its very sturdy but a bitch to install but worth it, it is a one piece spoiler. My 96 is lowered, no problems.....

I had the same experience. The Ecklers version is much more brittle that the factory pieces, and shatter rather than grind off a little. After going through two sets, I bit the bullet and bought factory pieces. I would have been better off fiscally to have done so from the beginning.

More importantly, a few days ago on one of the other Corvette forums is a post where a person complained to Ecklers and was told that Ecklers had a supplier problem and that they would replace the defective pieces for him when the proper replacement became available. That's nice for him, but it seems the really ethical thing for Eckler's to do is contact everyone who was sold the defective version and notify them it wlll be replaced or credited. I guess now, it will only be a few who read about this and make individual complaints.

Added:

Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules here, but this is the link to the thread I mentioned:

http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...ad.php?t=92999

It was posted 2/23 by vee93 entitled "A warning re:Eckler's C4 front spoiler replacement" on a forum that has the initial CAC.

If for some reason this link is not permissible, and it gets deleted (hopefully not this whole post), then PM if you want the link.

But that's NOT the 'corporate way' anymore.

That would cost them time to 'research' the records. Would have to pay someone to ham up the SQL for that search. Uh-Uh.. that's not going to happen.
Then they would have to pay someone to draft up a letter informing the customers of the problem and their soultion...uh-uh..that's not going to happen.
They would have to pay another person to stuff the envelopes which they would have to buy...uh-uh.that's not going to happen...
Then they would have to pay the postage...uh-uh... that's not going to happen....
When the new parts arrive someone would have to pull and box all those parts, get them ready to ship....
Heaven FORBID they would puke up the shipping cost... that all is just NOT going to happen.

The current philosophy of business now is 'Do As Little Customer Service As Possible;.

This isn't your fathers Oldsmobile OR his generations way of 'taking care of business'.

Odd how, with so many more people to get things done, less get's done now than a couple of decades ago.

My question: What is causing this decline of customer service in our society?
Profit has become 'God' , to be worshipped and cherished even to the detriment of society itself.
Is there an underlying subconcious belief that civilization is in such rapid decline that everyone feels an undeniable pressure to 'get all you can' before the fall? I truly don't know but I see it all transpiring before my own eyes.

To get back on topic..... I cut about 1" off the bottom of mine and although it still scrapes, it's a lot better.

Perhaps you need to go with GM parts. Mine has only had OEM on it, and the bottom edges get ragged from scraping, but nothing has ever broken.

Well, except for the time I ran over a hood on the interstate. That doesn't count...

Default OEM is better.

I have had a genuine GM part on mine it does take more abuse , seems like the plastic material is alittle more ruberized.

I went with the Prowler one piece fiberglass spoiler. It's rugged and I've bottomed with it a few times. I just repainted it and it's like new. It also looks like it directs the airflow better towards the radiator. Works for me.

In three and a half years, I went through two sets and now I use a "Big Mouth Air Dam" so am real careful. The BMAD has been on now almost eight months and outside of a little rash, all is ok.

Moral of the story, be very careful.

Any good sources for a GM 3-pc spoiler kit for the 92-96 Vettes? I've got some hellacious cuts, scrapes and bends on the stock '95 air dam and it's time to treat my car to a new one.

in my case, i went with the 3-piece repros from mid-america. no brittleness so far, they've been on for about 6 months now. scrapes and bends, does not break (yet).

I believe cold weather has a lot to do with the center section not holding up well. I installed a new 3 piece set on my 96 LT1 this past November when I was still in Texas.

Drove up to Indiana, where I am now, and drove car through the winter. I happened to take a peek at the center section yesterday and it's shattered to he**. Had to be the cold temps, combined with the dip in the driveway entrance at my sister's home.

So I'll be installing a new center section soon.
