Have done this job a couple of times before and never had this problem.
Had a couple of goes at this now,not getting chance to remove and change the filter- Im getting a constant flow of fuel as soon as i dissconnect one end of the filter, and it does not stop?
Releaved pressure as normal, tried jacking up at diffrent angles, had another go this morning with the fuel tank level low- no luck.
Did'nt do this the first two times i changed it. Am i missing something?

Did you remove the gas cap and relieve the pressure at the schader valve ?
when you say 'constant flow', is it a gush or a trickle?
i had a trickle but it stopped after a short while.
did you remove the fp fuse and run the car till the engine dies??
When I did mine, I used every pressure-relief trick I could find here at the forum, and it still never really stopped. It took 20-30 minutes for the trickle to become a drip that was slow enough to work around. The amount of fuel lost, however, was not very great - not much more than a cup or so.

I waited about 10 mins and figured it was probably going to empty the tank before it stopped, so i niped it back up. I'll give it a try.
Pinching the hose at the tank seems a good idea to.
not sure if a 91 fp fuse is the same as an 87, but mine was in the fuse cluster on the passenger side.... i think it is marked fp.... sorry if im wrong thats just off the top of my head.
running the car till it cuts out will get rid of a lot of fuel left in the lines
The trick is, stuff some rags on either side of the fuel lines so it will absorb the fuel dripping when it starts running down the ouside of the lines, then swap the filter out really quickly. When done, mop up any excess with the rags, then hose it down or let it evaporate off before starting it up. Only takes a few mins if you do it that way
